The discovery came shortly after troops had already arrested six suspected members of the proscribed IPOB and its armed wing, the ESN, at Ndiagu community in the same local government area on June 9.
Acting on information gathered from that arrest, troops moved swiftly to exploit the lead, and it led them straight to the hidden farm.
The spokesman explained that the site had been carefully set up to look like an ordinary pig farm, but a search revealed it was actually being used to store weapons and ammunition meant for the group's operations.
In his words, the Defense Headquarters spokesman said, "A follow-up exploitation of a suspected arms cache disguised as a pig farm in Enugu yielded a general-purpose machine gun, an RPG7 tube, three AK-47 rifles, two hand grenades, and 748 rounds of assorted ammunition."
The spokesman noted that this discovery formed part of a broader pattern of decapitation operations carried out by troops against IPOB and ESN across Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Imo states during the reporting month, during which six criminals were neutralized and 39 suspects arrested.
He added that similar follow-up raids, including one on an IPOB ESN safe house days later, continued to yield significant weapons hauls, showing that the group's logistics and arms networks remain under sustained pressure from ongoing military operations in the South East region.
