Speaking during a Senate plenary session in a video shared by Viable TV, Umeh also commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting security operations that he said are delivering positive results in protecting Nigerians. He said the achievements of the Armed Forces and the service chiefs deserve recognition.
The senator expressed pride in the operation and singled out Major General Nnebeife for his leadership. He noted that the General is from Awka in Anambra State and is one of his constituents.
According to Umeh, Nnebeife has earned a reputation for bravery through his performance in previous military operations. He said the Major General also coordinated the rescue of kidnapping victims in Kwara State during an earlier operation.
Umeh added that Nnebeife is known for leading his troops from the frontline rather than directing operations from a distance. He described him as a dedicated officer who has consistently demonstrated courage in difficult rescue missions.
The senator urged the military commander to continue serving the country with commitment and prayed for his safety in future assignments.
Umeh also paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives during the operation, saying their sacrifice should be remembered and honoured.
He said, "The GOC is my constituent. He's from Anambra State, he's from Awka, Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife.
It's recorded everywhere, and he has been commended for his gallantry in similar operations. He was the one who coordinated the rescue of victims in Kwara State under similar circumstances."
