He Said a Plane That Landed on the Road in Asaba Belonged to a Church Leader Who Supports Obi– Oloja

Veteran journalist and media analyst Martins Oloja has criticized the communication style of some media aides in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying they should focus on addressing public concerns rather than linking every issue to opposition politicians.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Oloja said some government spokespersons often shift attention from important national issues by bringing opposition figures into discussions that are unrelated to politics.

He cited a recent example involving a plane that reportedly landed on a road in Asaba. According to Oloja, a presidential media aide reacted to the incident by pointing out that the aircraft belonged to a church leader believed to be a supporter of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Oloja argued that such responses do not help to explain the facts of an incident or address the concerns of Nigerians. Instead, he said they turn serious matters into political arguments.

Obi had compared the current situation in Nigeria with events before the 2015 general election, recalling how Tinubu and other opposition figures criticised former President Goodluck Jonathan over insecurity and economic challenges.

According to Obi, many of the promises made during the 2023 presidential campaign, including improvements in electricity supply, security, and citizens’ welfare, have not been achieved. He maintained that conditions have worsened and said resignation would demonstrate accountability in public office.
