Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Fayose said his disagreement with Makinde began after what he described as actions that weakened the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West and undermined his political structure within the party.
According to him, political relationships should be built on fairness, mutual respect, and recognition of contributions made by party leaders. He argued that as a former governor, he deserved a level of respect and consideration from the Oyo State governor.
Fayose also revisited discussions about wealth and success, stating that although he did not make his first million at an early stage as Makinde once claimed to have done, he was already doing well in business and making steady progress in life.
Nwaokobia further explained that political disagreements should not prevent Nigerians from accepting the legitimacy of constitutional institutions. He argued that governance becomes more effective when citizens prioritize national interest above partisan divisions.
The Country First Movement convener also stressed that leaders should be held accountable through democratic means, while citizens continue to engage constructively in the political process. He noted that democratic societies thrive when both leaders and followers respect the rules governing elections and public office.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to strengthen democratic values by participating actively in elections, respecting lawful outcomes, and supporting efforts aimed at promoting national unity and development.
