I Asked Bandit ‘Can I Have 2 Tablets Of Paracetamol?’ He Said No Problem & It Cured My Malaria—Alamu

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Monday, July 27, 2026, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the school principal who was abducted alongside teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has recounted how she became seriously ill while in captivity, saying she believes God used an unexpected encounter with one of the kidnappers to restore her health.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service, Alamu recalled falling ill while being held in the forest and said she decided to ask one of the kidnappers for medication, even though she was unsure of what she was given.

She explained that the incident occurred toward the end of their captivity, when her health had deteriorated significantly, leaving her weak and causing concern among the other captives.

Describing the experience, she said, “I called one of them, the camp commander, and asked if I could have two tablets of paracetamol. He agreed and gave me some tablets. 

The woman sitting beside me said, ‘Mommy, this is not paracetamol.’ I replied, ‘God will work through it.’ I took the medication and, by God's grace, it was as though I had never experienced the symptoms of malaria.”

Alamu said she believes God protected and sustained her throughout the ordeal, adding that despite not knowing what medication she had taken, she recovered quickly and regained her strength while still in the kidnappers' camp.

She concluded by expressing gratitude to God for preserving her life and bringing her safely through the traumatic experience, saying the ordeal deepened her faith and gave her a renewed appreciation for life after weeks in captivity.
