Speaking during an interview on AIT News on Monday, 27 July, 2026 while reacting to the face-off between Atiku and Obasanjo, Ibe criticised the former president's approach to political alliances.
He said that Obasanjo could maintain friendly interactions with political associates but later take actions that undermine them, describing the former president's conduct as inconsistent.
Expressing his frustration, Ibe said, "Baba is one that you will have lunch with, eat amala with and by evening the man is selling you for a mere shekels."
According to Ibe, political relationships should be built on trust, sincerity and consistency rather than shifting loyalties.
He argued that leaders should remain committed to those they associate with instead of sending mixed signals that create uncertainty within the political space.
The Atiku aide's comments followed recent exchanges between the former vice president and Obasanjo, which have fuelled discussions about political alignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The disagreement has attracted widespread attention, with political observers closely monitoring the relationship between the two prominent figures who have shared a long and complex political history.
Ibe maintained that the focus of the 2027 election should remain on the aspirations of Nigerians rather than the personal preferences or political manoeuvres of influential individuals.
