One Of My Daughter Passed By A Mosque And Some People Came Out And Killed Her—Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recounted a personal experience of religious violence in northern Nigeria, remembering the murder of one of his pastors and urging Christians to refrain from seeking revenge.

While speaking at an event in the United States, Adeboye responded to critiques about his silence concerning the assaults on Christians in northern Nigeria. He explained that such claims overlooked the sacrifices made by the churches he leads and the suffering they have faced through the years.

He pointed out a specific incident, stating, "One of my daughters, a pastor in the north, went out for early morning evangelism, walked by a mosque, and was attacked and killed by some individuals."

He explained that during her early morning evangelism, the pastor was sharing the Christian message that "Jesus loves you" when she was assaulted. 

Adeboye asserted that the killing was known to the public, but the case was never properly addressed, adding that the police failed to take action.

He noted that some younger Christians suggested retaliatory measures after the event, claiming authorities had neglected their duties. 

However, Adeboye mentioned that he dismissed this notion, emphasizing that he would not spark what he referred to as a "spiritual war" in Nigeria.

The pastor also described additional assaults on RCCG members in the North, including the murder of newborn twins belonging to a pastor's family by suspected extremists. 

Despite these tragedies, he claimed that the church continued its mission by setting up camps for internally displaced persons (IDP), educational institutions, and support initiatives for affected communities while encouraging members to stay strong in their faith.
