Obi Doesn't Need 4yrs, Within 2yrs If He Enters There We'll See It; He Has Done It Before - Says Lawyer Maxwell Opara

Lawyer Maxwell Opara has expressed strong confidence that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi could deliver noticeable improvements in Nigeria within two years if elected president, arguing that the country’s challenge is not a lack of ideas but the absence of political will to implement them. Opara made the remarks during an interview on Arise News, where he discussed governance, leadership capacity, and Nigeria’s long-standing developmental challenges.

He insisted that Nigeria already has competent individuals who understand what needs to be done to move the country forward.

According to him, the problem has never been about availability of solutions but about the willingness of those in power to take difficult but necessary decisions that prioritize national development over personal or political interests.

“They know what they are supposed to do, and they know how to do it. But it's the political will and some selfish considerations that are lacking,” Opara said.

The lawyer argued that effective leadership remains the most critical factor in addressing Nigeria’s economic, political, and social challenges.

He maintained that when leaders demonstrate discipline, accountability, and commitment to public service, meaningful progress can be achieved in a relatively short period.

Opara specifically referenced Peter Obi, saying he believes the former governor has already demonstrated capacity for results-driven governance during his time in office in Anambra State.

“Peter Obi doesn't even need four years. To me, I have assessed Peter Obi; within two years, if Peter Obi enters there, we'll see it because he has done it before,” he stated.
