Worst Of A Leader Is Somebody Who Has Identified Problem,Can't Make A Decision On How To Solve - Wike Criticizes Peter Obi’s Leadership Style, Says Real Leaders Must Make Tough Decisions

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a fresh critique of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his leadership style and describing it as lacking the toughness required for national leadership. WATCH FULL STORY HERE.

Wike made the remarks during an interview with Arise Television on June 1, 2026, where he spoke extensively about governance, political behaviour, and the qualities required to lead a complex country like Nigeria.

According to him, leadership is not just about identifying problems but about having the courage and capacity to make difficult decisions that provide lasting solutions.

He argued that many political actors often point out national challenges without demonstrating the willingness to confront them head-on.

“The worst of a leader is somebody who has identified a problem and cannot make a decision on how to solve that problem,” Wike said.

The FCT minister suggested that Obi’s political approach reflects what he described as opportunistic tendencies, alleging that the former Anambra State governor prefers political environments where outcomes are already favourable rather than engaging in difficult or competitive political struggles.

Wike claimed that Obi has a pattern of avoiding political contests that require long-term resilience, instead repositioning himself in situations that offer better chances of success.

He argued that such behaviour does not align with the demands of national leadership, which he described as often difficult and unpredictable.

He further alleged that Obi recently emerged as a presidential candidate under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election after leaving the Labour Party, describing the move as part of what he sees as shifting political alignments.
