NDC Is A Miracle Party, A Gift From God, It Has Emerged As Nigeria's Leading Opposition in Short Time– Ikoawaji

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Asukewe Ikoawaji, has described the party as "a miracle" and "a gift from God to Nigerians," insisting that it has become the country's leading opposition party despite its relatively short existence.

Ikoawaji made the remarks while appearing on an interview programme on Arise News on Friday. Speaking on the growth of the party, he said the NDC had rapidly gained prominence in Nigeria's political landscape.

"NDC is a miracle party, a gift from God to Nigerians. Within a short period, the NDC has emerged as the country's leading opposition party, whether anyone likes it or not," he said.

The party chieftain, however, noted that the NDC was currently confronting four major challenges, although he did not elaborate on all of them during the interview.

According to him, it is important for party members, supporters and Nigerians to understand the difficulties confronting the party as it seeks to consolidate its position in the country's political space.

Ikoawaji also alleged that the ruling party was taking actions against the NDC and suggested that the party had concerns over what it believes is the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

"We are not ignorant of the actions of the ruling party, nor are we unaware of what we believe INEC is attempting to do," he stated.

His comments come as political parties continue to intensify preparations ahead of future electoral contests, with opposition groups seeking to strengthen their structures and expand their support base across the country.

The NDC has continued to position itself as an alternative political platform, while its leaders maintain that the party is gaining momentum despite the challenges they say it faces.
